3804 and 3806 Bagley Avenue
3804 and 3806 Bagley are two adjacent buildings owned by a single owner, who wanted a unique façade design / identity for each building. For 3804, the tenant was a modern furniture store so we used custom cut stacked slate and an aluminum storefront to evoke a modern and crisp building facade. The tenant for 3806 was a scrapbook store, so we used handmade tiles and a hand crafted wood storefront to be evocative of craft. Both spaces had an elevation change at the façade that required a disabled access ramp. We recessed the entry door, and with a minimal 1:20 ramp and ½” changes in elevation at each end of the ramp, we were able to avoid handrails and create an elegant transition from the street to the store interior.
